Casten Holds District Swearing-In Reception and Ceremony

Wheaton, IL. – Today U.S. Representative Sean Casten (IL-06) held his District Swearing-In Ceremony and Reception at the DuPage Country Auditorium JTK Administration Building. U.S. Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) delivered the keynote address and the U.S. District Court Judge for the Northern District of Illinois, Thomas M. Durkin, administered the oath of office. Casten highlighted his priorities in the 116th Congress, including his priorities on the House Financial Services Committee and the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee. Casten was sworn in as a Member of the United States House of Representatives by the House Speaker on January 3rd, 2019.

Rep. Casten Sworn into the 116th Congress in his in-district swearing-in event.

Casten said, "Today was a special day for me as I was sworn in to the 116th Congress in my home district – surrounded by my friends, family, and the people I have the honor to represent. The immense amount of gratitude I have representing the 6th district is indescribable and I will work every day to deliver results for my constituents.

"Their voices were heard, and I will fight to pass laws that reduce the risk of climate change, to protect healthcare, and to push for common-sense gun safety legislation. It is easy – but wrong – to blame politics for our problems. It is hard – and right – to acknowledge our inherent equality. Rather than inflame political divides, let us all work to inspire our better angels. I promise to do so and ask you to do the same. We must work together and serve the American people – our democracy depends on it. I'm grateful Senator Durbin delivered the keynote address and for his leadership not only in the delegation but also throughout the country and I look forward to our continued partnership. Now it's time to get to work to proudly serve the 6th District in the 116TH Congress."

"Congressman Sean Casten is a problem solver," Durbin said. "He brings the lessons learned as a biochemical engineer and clean energy entrepreneur to tackling the problems that the people of the 6th District face today. Whether the issue is creating jobs, protecting the environment, providing access to health care, achieving equality, investing in education, or making college affordable, I look forward to working with Congressman Casten and our great state delegation to put our nation back on the right track."
